During the summer season, Glencoe undergoes a remarkable transformation. The lush green vegetation brings a new vibrancy to the landscape, creating a stunning backdrop for photography. Although it’s not my preferred time for photo sessions in Glencoe, I must admit that the scenery never fails to impress me.
Recently, Ashley and Benjamin visited Scotland with their three lovely children in June. They wanted to have a picturesque scenery for their family session, so they chose a 2-hour package that allowed us to visit three different locations, all of which were absolutely stunning.
Our first stop was at The Three Sisters, where we spent most of our time. The evening was warm and bright, with not a single cloud in the sky. This made it a bit more challenging to capture great photographs, but we still had a ton of fun and managed to capture many meaningful moments.
Next, we drove to the Devil’s Staircase, which provided a stunning backdrop with the famous white house called Lagangarbh Hut in the distance. The kids had a blast playing with the rocks and showing off their dance moves, while the parents could relax and enjoy each other’s company. However, as the sun started to hide behind the mountains, the dreaded midges came out and started to attack us. We had to keep moving, which actually resulted in more natural and candid photographs.
Even with the midges causing a bit of a nuisance, I really wanted to get to our third location, known as Rannoch viewpoint. The sun was low on the horizon, so we quickly jumped into our cars and drove a little further. Although we didn’t stay there for too long, I managed to capture some absolutely stunning photos at this spot.
I believe that the success of a photography session lies in the ability to create meaningful moments and capture them in a natural and authentic way. That’s why I am always on the move during sessions, constantly searching for new angles and perspectives. It is through this constant movement that I am able to capture the beauty and essence of Glencoe during a summer holiday. I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to capture Ashley and Benjamin’s family in this lovely place, creating memories that they will cherish forever.
