A Winter Gleniffer Braes Maternity Photoshoot at Sunrise

winter Gleniffer Braes maternity photoshoot at sunrise

This winter Gleniffer Braes maternity photoshoot started before sunrise on one of the coldest mornings of the season. The sky was completely clear, and the cold air felt sharp the moment we stepped out of the car. It was one of those mornings where everything feels still and quiet, with frost lingering on the ground and the promise of colour building slowly on the horizon.

Divya and Bharadwaj arrived full of energy despite the freezing temperature. From the very beginning, they stayed relaxed and positive, embracing the conditions rather than letting the cold take over the experience. You would never guess from the photos just how cold it really was.

We began at the viewpoint near the Robertson car park, one of the most rewarding spots within Gleniffer Braes Country Park, especially at sunrise.

Starting early meant we had the viewpoint almost entirely to ourselves. As the first light appeared, the landscape slowly revealed itself, stretching across Paisley with the city of Glasgow visible further in the distance. On clear mornings like this, even the mountains far beyond the city begin to show themselves on the horizon.

For the first part of the session, Divya and Bharadwaj wore traditional Hindu outfits. Her green and red attire stood out beautifully against the soft winter colours of the landscape, while his white clothing added a clean contrast that worked perfectly with the open views.

Despite the freezing temperature, they stayed completely focused on each other. There were quiet moments of connection, gentle movement, and plenty of laughter between frames as we worked through the changing light. The stillness of the morning created a calm rhythm that made everything feel unhurried.

Winter sunrise sessions often reward the early start with crisp air and excellent visibility, and this morning delivered exactly that.

Once the sun had fully risen above the horizon, we made our way into the woodland area of Gleniffer Braes. This shift in location created a natural transition from wide landscape views into a more sheltered environment.

The woodland offered protection from the wind, and the small waterfall nearby added movement and texture to the background. It also created a completely different atmosphere compared to the open viewpoint, allowing the session to evolve naturally without needing to travel far.

The woodland and waterfall areas add a different dimension to a winter Gleniffer Braes maternity photoshoot, especially after beginning with wide sunrise views at the viewpoint.

At this point, Divya changed into a flowing red dress, while Bharadwaj switched into a more relaxed outfit with jeans, a jumper, and a shirt layered underneath. The new outfits suited the woodland setting perfectly and gave this part of the winter Gleniffer Braes maternity photoshoot a softer and more relaxed feel.

Near the waterfall, the sound of running water added a steady background rhythm, making it easier to settle into slower, quieter moments.

Winter sessions always come with challenges, especially at sunrise when temperatures are at their lowest. This morning was absolutely freezing, and there were moments where we paused briefly just to warm hands between shots.

But what stood out most was how committed Divya and Bharadwaj were to the experience. They embraced the cold without hesitation, trusting the process and staying focused on each other throughout.

There was laughter between moments, quick walks between spots to stay warm, and a steady rhythm that helped the session flow naturally. That positive energy made a huge difference and allowed us to create images that feel calm and effortless despite the conditions.

Often, the most memorable sessions are the ones where the weather plays a role in shaping the experience rather than limiting it.

One of the strengths of Gleniffer Braes Country Park is how easily different environments connect within a short walking distance. Starting at the viewpoint gave us wide open views and sunrise light, while finishing in the woodland added depth and intimacy.

Using two nearby spots created natural variety without making the session feel rushed. The transition between locations felt smooth, and each setting offered something unique without competing with the other.

This is something I’ve seen work well here across different sessions and lighting conditions. For example, I’ve also photographed maternity sessions at Gleniffer Braes during sunset, where the light creates a completely different mood compared to the early morning stillness.

Having multiple outfit choices also helped reinforce the change between locations. The traditional attire suited the wide landscape beautifully, while the second outfit felt relaxed and natural among the trees.

Gleniffer Braes Country Park is a fantastic location for a winter Gleniffer Braes maternity photoshoot, particularly for families and couples based near Paisley or Glasgow. The variety within the park makes it possible to create a session that includes both wide scenic views and quieter woodland settings without needing long travel times.

Winter sunrise sessions here can feel cold, but they often bring the clearest skies and the most peaceful surroundings. Planning ahead with warm layers, simple outfit changes, and enough time to move between locations makes a big difference to comfort during colder months.

Using more than one spot within Gleniffer Braes works especially well, allowing the session to build naturally from open landscapes into sheltered woodland areas. This flexibility also helps if conditions change, which is always something to consider when planning sessions in Scotland.
