A Rainy Anniversary Session in the Scottish Highlands
Glencoe waterfall couples photoshoot sessions can look completely different depending on the weather, and this one was truly unforgettable. Brittany and Matt travelled from the United States to celebrate their ten year anniversary in Scotland after missing out on their honeymoon.
They wanted to capture this special milestone in a place that felt wild and beautiful, and Glencoe delivered exactly that.
Glencoe Waterfall Couples Photoshoot in Dramatic Conditions
We began the session at the Glencoe Waterfall, located just off the A82 where the Allt Lairig Eilde meets the River Coe. After days of heavy rain, the waterfall was at its most powerful, with a huge volume of water rushing down into the river below.
The surrounding stream was also much higher than usual, adding even more drama to the scene. The sound of the water, the movement in the air and the constantly shifting weather created an atmosphere that felt raw and cinematic.
This location is one of the most accessible in Glencoe, but in conditions like these it feels completely different. It becomes less about the view and more about the experience.
Embracing Rain and Wind During the Session
Glencoe is known for its unpredictable weather, and this session was a perfect example of how dramatic conditions can elevate a shoot rather than limit it. The rain and wind added movement, texture and emotion to every frame.
Brittany and Matt fully embraced it. They laughed through the rain, held onto each other in the wind and stayed completely present in the moment. That connection is what made the photos feel real.

Continuing at Glencoe Viewpoint
After spending time at the waterfall, we continued the session with a short drive to the Glencoe Viewpoint, where the landscape opens up into wide views across the valley and surrounding mountains.
The rain eased off for a while, giving us a short window to work without getting completely soaked, although the wind stayed with us the whole time. The cloudy sky created soft, even light, which worked perfectly for photos and kept everything looking natural.
This part of the session felt lighter and more playful. As they walked along the path, there were some fun moments, including Matt jumping mid-run, which brought a bit of energy and spontaneity into the photos. We also slowed things down in between, capturing a few quieter, more intimate moments with the mountains stretching out behind them.

Not long after, the rain returned as we moved on to the final stop, bringing back that dramatic Highland atmosphere again.
Finishing the Session at Altnafeadh
To finish the session, we stopped near Altnafeadh, close to the well known white cottage set against the mountains.
By that point, the rain had returned, but instead of taking away from the experience, it added something completely different. The light shifted again, becoming more dramatic, with darker skies and soft highlights breaking through over the mountains behind them.
That contrast between rain, light and landscape created a really atmospheric ending to the session. It felt raw, real and very much like Glencoe at its best.
A Meaningful Anniversary Photoshoot in Scotland
This session was about more than just photos. It was about celebrating ten years together and finally having the chance to experience a honeymoon-style trip in Scotland.
Choosing to go ahead despite the weather made it even more memorable. Instead of waiting for perfect conditions, they embraced the reality of the Highlands, and that’s what made the images feel so personal.

Every couple brings a different energy to a session, and that’s what makes each one unique. Some lean into the wild and cinematic feel of the Highlands, while others prefer something quieter and more timeless.
