Couple photography Glencoe

I am so excited to share another beautiful couple photography session in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, and this time we ventured into the magical landscapes of Glen Etive, just a short, winding drive from the famous Glencoe. This was an engagement shoot with Nicole and Elliot, a wonderful couple who travelled all the way from England to have their love story captured in one of the most scenic locations in Scotland.

When we first arrived in Glen Etive, the Highlands greeted us with a heavy downpour. Rain in Scotland is always a possibility, especially in this part of the country, and it often adds a certain drama to the scenery. Thankfully, as is so common here, the weather changed in a heartbeat. Within a few minutes, the rain clouds began to lift, revealing a moody but beautiful sky that created the perfect atmosphere for their engagement photography in Glencoe. The fresh rain left the greens more vibrant and the air crisp, adding an extra layer of magic to the session.

Our original plan was to drive the full length of Glen Etive, all the way to the peaceful waters of Loch Etive. It’s a route I absolutely love for couple photography Glencoe, as every turn in the road brings a new view that begs to be photographed. The towering mountains, winding river, and untouched wilderness make this one of the most cinematic locations in Scotland. However, as we started driving, we quickly realised that we were not going to make it to the Loch in time. We simply couldn’t resist stopping at so many stunning spots along the way.

Each stop offered something different: a backdrop of rugged peaks disappearing into the mist, a quiet bend in the river with reflections shimmering on the surface, and wide open valleys where you can feel the scale and beauty of the Highlands all around you. Nicole and Elliot were so natural together, completely relaxed and happy to embrace the adventure, which made capturing genuine and heartfelt moments an absolute joy.

One of the things I love most about couple and engagement photography in Glencoe is how every shoot feels completely unique. The light changes constantly, the weather shifts without warning, and each couple brings their own story and energy to the landscape. For Nicole and Elliot, this was not just a photo session — it was an experience. They laughed together in the rain, explored the winding glen, and shared quiet moments surrounded by the wild beauty of Scotland.

By the time we reached the end of our shoot, we found ourselves just a few minutes from Loch Etive. Even though we didn’t make it all the way, it didn’t matter. The journey itself had been so full of stops and moments that the entire drive became part of their story. Sometimes, the best images happen when you’re not in a rush and can simply enjoy the process.

It was such a pleasure to photograph Nicole and Elliot in Glen Etive during the summer months. The combination of soft, golden light breaking through clouds, the lush greenery, and the dramatic mountains created an unforgettable setting for their engagement session. This shoot is a perfect example of why I believe Glencoe and Glen Etive are among the best places in Scotland for couple photography, elopements, and engagement shoots.

I’m already looking forward to seeing Nicole and Elliot again next year when they tie the knot at beautiful Loch Lomond. I know their wedding day will be just as full of joy, laughter, and stunning scenery as this session was.
