This extended family session took place at Port na Mine, a beautiful holiday home overlooking Loch Etive with views stretching towards Glencoe.
The family were visiting Scotland from the US and staying here together, eight adults and two small children aged one and three. They wanted relaxed, natural photos that captured what their time in Scotland actually felt like, without turning it into a big formal photoshoot.
This kind of location is perfect for a Loch Etive family photoshoot because the setting does so much of the work. You step outside the door and the views are already there.
Starting with Views Over Loch Etive

We began near the house, using the higher ground and open views over Loch Etive. On a calm, clear day the loch can feel incredibly peaceful, and this session had that quiet, still atmosphere that works so well for natural family photos.
Starting at the holiday home meant there was no rushing around or loading kids into cars. Everyone could ease into things, which is especially helpful with young children.
Walking Down to the Shoreline
From the house, we walked down towards the shoreline. The path takes you through woodland and opens out to the water, with mountains in the distance and wide open views across the loch.
This part of the session felt slower and more relaxed. People could walk, chat, take in the scenery, and I could capture those in between moments that happen when families are simply spending time together in a beautiful place.

Why Holiday Homes Work So Well for Family Photos

Staying somewhere special changes the whole feel of a photoshoot. You are not just turning up for photos and leaving again. The location is part of your story.
A Loch Etive family photographer session at your holiday accommodation gives you variety without needing to travel anywhere. You can move between views, woodland, and the lochside easily, which works really well for extended families and for sessions with young children. If the kids need a break, a snack, or a quick change, you can just pop inside the house without disrupting the flow of the session. This makes the whole experience much more relaxed for everyone.
A Different Way to Remember Your Time in Scotland
For families visiting Scotland, photos like this are not only about how everyone looked on the day. They are about remembering the place you stayed, the views you woke up to, and the feeling of being together somewhere beautiful.
If you are planning a family trip to Scotland and staying in a scenic holiday home around Loch Etive or Glencoe, a relaxed family photoshoot at your accommodation is a great way to capture both your family and the place that made the trip special.
