Hazel & Kenneth – Dunure Castle, Ayr – Wedding photographer Ayrshire

I was really anxious to share these photographs with you of Hazel and Kenneth, a delightful couple who I was fortunate to have photographed a few days ago.

As always the location is key to any wedding photography shoot and as I wanted to create some truly stunning images we visited a location that I seldom have the time to shoot during the day of a given wedding.

Due to it’s natural beauty I chose the wee town of Dunure for our backdrop, which is located a few miles from Ayr and features the ruins of a beautiful little castle located on the coast of the sea. I discovered this place probably a year ago while my family and I were visiting some of the many castles in Ayrshire. After seeing this location for the first time I knew immediately that I had to shoot a wedding at this wonderful site.

We were very lucky on the day since the weather was perfect and the following day it rained cats and dogs again.

I’m thankful to Hazel and Kenneth for being an absolutely amazing couple to work with. They were very patient even while I was pushing my luck at towards the end of the shoot in order to get more and more shots. The thinking behind this approach is that my subjects generally get use to being in front of the camera towards the end and that is when we usually get the best photographs as at this point that they are far more relaxed. The other important factor is that at during the evening at sunset the sun is lower which causes it to cast a far more beautiful light.
