When I first received an email from Kostya about maternity photographs for his wife Olga and their family I was thrilled, but then he mentioned that they didn’t want to have them taken outdoors because it’s too cold, which wasn’t ideal for me as I love shooting outdoors. I definitely understand their concern as I’m not a fan of the cold either however, for beautiful photographs, I am always willing to bare a little chill. I know that the winter can be limiting sometimes but hey, I was able to convince them to do an outdoor shoot anyway… happy days! I sent them a few location suggestions and they chose Dunure Castle, which is one of my favourite places in Ayrshire. I love visiting this location and I have shot there on a few occasions but never at this time of the year.
We were fortunate to have chosen a time when the wind was calm and the sun was shining. Don’t be fooled though as despite it looking like it was nice and warm in the photographs, it was actually very cold and my hands were almost frozen by the end of the session. It was well worth it though and I’m really glad that Olga agreed to shoot at this particular location. I hope you’ll enjoy viewing these photographs!
