The beautiful winter wedding of Eilidh and Ewan was my final one for 2016, but definitely one of my favourites. This was the second time that I was photographing a wedding at Dumfries House. I simply love this venue. It looks even more spectacular at this time of the year, the Christmas trees, lights and help to create a magical ambiance.
On the way to Eilidh’s parents house I stopped to take some pictures of the Dumfries House as I wanted to capture the beautiful morning sun shine. After that I spent some time with the girls when they were getting ready. You could feel that Christmas was just around the corner with all the decorations perfectly placed around the house. As I only had a small window of time I had to leave pretty quickly in order to drive up to the venue before the start of the ceremony.
The wedding ceremony was really lovely, very relaxed with lots of laughs and when it ended I had some time to spend with Eilidh and Ewan alone. It is one of my favourite moments of every wedding (right after dancing 🙂 ). Funny moment when Ewan couldn’t find his way to Eilidh in the maze, and Chris (bestman) was shouting which way to go. When we finished with the portraits we moved to the house for more drinks and a chat with the guests.
The speeches and dinner were held in the Great Stewards Dining Room which looked amazing! There was plenty of laughter during the speeches which I really enjoyed. After dinner we moved to the pavilion for the rest of the night. In between the dances we sneaked out to do night portraits in front of the house. It was raining and I got soaked before I managed to set everything up but as soon as the bride and groom joined me the rain eased up, which (for once) I was not happy about as I wanted to have raindrops in my shots. Well, you have to work with what you have. The good thing is that I’m still very happy with the results :).
Thank you again Eilidh and Ewan for allowing me to be a part of your wonderful wedding day and for also being such an awesome couple to work with.
Enjoy the photos!
