Edinburgh is such a beautiful city and I was very excited when Carla and Dexter have booked me for their wedding in the heart of the city centre – The Principal Hotel on George Street.
Carla and Dexter are very cool and relaxed individuals. They went to primary school together until Dexter moved away when he was eight. They didn’t see each other again for almost 10 years until they have met again on holiday in Zante in 2008. Carla said that it almost seemed a bit like fate to both of them. I love to hear stories like this!
The day started at their house where Dexter and his ushers were preparing for the wedding while having some drinks. I had so many laughs when shooting them!
Next, I drove to the Principal Hotel to meet Carla, her bridesmaids, and part of the family. She had a room with a great view over the Edinburgh city where we took some photos of the girls. The ceremony went really well. It was filled with tears, joy, and laughter. It was conducted in the stunning King’s Hall that has a beautiful chandelier in the middle of the room made of little lights, that looks like a hanging Christmas tree.
After the ceremony and a few drinks, we went to the nearby Queen Street Gardens for some portraits of the bride and groom as well as some portraits with the wedding party. We didn’t have much time there but I was able to take some really nice and fun photos. Then it was time for the speeches which is one of my favourite parts of the wedding. I love to hear all the stories about the bride and groom and seeing people laughing so much.
After the wedding breakfast I had few more minutes with Carla and Dexter outside of the hotel and then we headed back for the cake cutting and first dance. I love this part of the day where I can show my dance moves, capture the joy, all the laughs and listen to some nice music. My feet are moving even now when I see these dance shots :).
